MARITIME HERITAGE Maritime trade played in the development of early civilizations. For example, the ancient Greeks and Romans relied heavily on maritime trade to import goods like spices, silk, and precious metals from Asia and Africa.  The development of shipping technology, such as the invention of the steam engine and the construction of larger and more efficient ships, helped to facilitate global trade and commerce. This allowed for theGreat! I'm glad to hear that. You could also consider discussing the impact of maritime trade on the environment and on human societies. For example, the increased demand for goods like sugar, coffee, and tobacco in Europe and North America led to the widespread use of slave labor in the Americas, which had devastating consequences for the enslaved people and their descendants. The maritime industry has evolved over time, from the early days of sail-powered ships to the modern era of container shipping and supertankers. This could include a discu...

JUST ANOTHER DAY

Image
JUST ANOTHER DAY...  It's just another day, another Monday or as famously known, traffic day. You are ready to go, all charged up and optimistic of what the new week holds. The weekend hasn't been interesting because you've been indoors and so away from human touch. The only time you were really excited was on Saturday when your favourite team won their third straight match. Now it's Monday, one of the days you dread and also love (Monday gives you mixed vibe: excitement and stress)  It's Monday and as the day requires, you've to leave home as soon as possible in order to avoid crazy traffic in Lagos especially Third Mainland Bridge. Lagos traffic will humble you, make you rethink your life, cause and job with its shitty salary and endless stress and nagging from your boss. You set out as early as 5:15am just to beat the early morning craze of traffic and you're surprised as always to meet a mammoth of people at the bus stop. You wonder if these people had...

PERCEPTIONS, OPINIONS AND JUDGEMENTS

Image
PERCEPTIONS, OPINIONS AND JUDGEMENTS I like to think of myself as r ealistic, different, sensitive, matter-of-factly, open, communicative and sweet. But this might be in contrast to what some people or a lot of people think about who I am. I could be perceived as overly-sensitive, too emotional, sad / depressed, nonconforming, disruptive or controversial by people who may or may not know me well. But I'm just one human being, one out of over 8 billion people in the world. This is something I've had to deal with and learn how to use to my best advantage.  Our perception of people, things, subjects and ideas may or may not always be correct due to bias, point of view, exposure and experience. It is very normal for people to have divergent opinions on things, subjects and people. But it is equally important to be objective, humane, understanding and open to new ideas, ideologies and standpoints that may arise from our observations, confrontations or conversations with people of...

HOW TO LIVE

Image
HOW TO LIVE How do you live? How should you? To what benefit is your existence to your community? Are you making sure that you're not only existing but also living purposely? What have you done to make the world a better place? How can you measure the effectiveness of your existence? Do you know how to live? It is very interesting to be human. It is so liberating to take breathes, make choices, see the world through your lenses and through others, love, be loved. It is peaceful to rest, to die, to transcend into the afterworld, to go into eternal rest and bliss. But while you're alive and living, what should you do? This is something everyone should be particular about.  You are meant to impact lives positively. You're required to show love to everyone regardless of their actions and reactions towards you.  It is your duty to promote peace and tranquility, foster good companionship and togetherness, do right at all times irrespective of what you get in return an...

LIFE IN RETROSPECT :2020, A CASE STUDY

Image
LIFE IN RETROSPECT : 2020, A CASE STUDY These are strange times, hard times, strange scenes, new ways of living ; a new life, a changed world. We are experiencing sudden changes to how things are done. Our routines have seen drastic changes and modifications. Our lives have been affected ; positively and otherwise. In times past, no one really cared so to say about what things like social distancing, flu, hygiene or a good health care system could translate to if not well managed and taken care of until the pandemic came. We were so oblivious to the luxury of being outside, free and mobile that we got the biggest shock of our lives when we were told to stay at home to curtail the spread of the virus. We were never prepared, we never saw it coming, we never imagined such a reality. A new reality as challenging as it is. Retrospectively, mental health was something we paid lip-service to and gave little or no consideration and thought. But when we had to stay away from our lives, jobs, l...

Men, Women, Lust, Fashion and Trends

Image
Men, Women, Lust, Fashion and Trends.  Women naturally are triggered by what they hear while men on the other hand are triggered by what they see. We all know this, we've all seen this, most of us have experienced this. So what is the need for demonising males who gets 'moved' by visual / graphical representations? What can we do to stop the unwanted objectification of ladies? How can we better the representation of ladies in the society, in the music and fashion industry?  Being a pervert is bad, chastity and lowering of the gaze is very important. But what again is the need for 'flashing of the skin' and /or projecting eroticism in the name of being 'liberal,' woke' or fashionably diverse? To chase clouts? To feel among, belonging and inclusive? Or maybe to appear trendy? I don't know, maybe something beyond my comprehension.  History is our best teacher, accounts of times past show clearly that one particular gender is prone to arousal and carnal ...

COVID-19: A REALITY DAWNS ON ALL

COVID-19: A REALITY DAWNS ON ALL It doesn't matter what is happening or how it's happening, what matters is what we make out of what is happening. It was late last year when all and sundries started making plans for the new year (2020). A lot was done, we were happy preparing for a new dawn full of hope to move into a new year with new purpose. The year lapse and there; the beginning of new dawn, the time to excel until the battle of survival started and the world is on stand still. New words are being added to everyone's vocabulary even the toddlers learn of it too quick. Far and wide, the world started fighting with a pandemic. Alas! Thousands are positive as Covid-19 looms. Words such as quarantine, isolation, lockdown, social distancing, physical distancing, nose masks, hand sanitizer and many more become frequently used. Everyone is scared for his/her life, nothing else matters; not our plans for the year, not the wedding we wish to storm, just our precious life. It...

SUSPENSION OF MAGU; NEEDS TO RE-INVESTIGATE GANDUJE'S BRIBE

SUSPENSION OF MAGU; NEEDS TO RE-INVESTIGATE GANDUJE'S BRIBE It is often said that in an unjust society, silence is a crime and all onlookers are cowards. The concept of probing as well as invitation for questioning are serving the same linguistics purposes. The only difference in the two terms is its politeness.  On Monday, 6th of July, 2020, as read on news outlet, the arrest of the former acting chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu. It is no longer a news, the allegations levied against the former EFCC boss which include: leakage of investigation reports (which is not clear to the populace who it was being leaked to), discrepancies in the reconciliation records of the EFCC and the Federal Ministry of Finance on recovered funds, rebooting of recovered loots, failure in providing evidences against some suspects (maybe Ganduje is inclusive) and/or in particular, Diezani Madueke, disregard for rule of law, allege corruption of #1trillion among others.  Having reviewed the accumulated ...

PLAYBOYS AND LUST

Image
Playboys and Lust - Abolarinwa Tayelolu  So i wont blame the play boys, they were once in love and with their heartfelt newest desires, their love, care and everything they wished to offer were splittered with thoughtless swords...i wonder what they had gone through, faking every moves, every motives of theirs, just to ensure that they upbeat how much they have suffered in regret after losing the real person that they loved..some of them chose the railing games, some of them go dirty just to impress and flow away their pains whilst some of them remained ever the same sensing the little regrets that they could not saunter, it was never their fault that they never right their wrongs,so they never bothered to love again...love is significantly correlative to pain..most times the loyalists suffer and will never explain why it failed... As a result of their first heartbreak, the tendency and push which they had for love are permanently suspended for many more years to come. I have to be caref...
