COVID-19: A REALITY DAWNS ON ALL

COVID-19: A REALITY DAWNS ON ALL It doesn't matter what is happening or how it's happening, what matters is what we make out of what is happening. It was late last year when all and sundries started making plans for the new year (2020). A lot was done, we were happy preparing for a new dawn full of hope to move into a new year with new purpose. The year lapse and there; the beginning of new dawn, the time to excel until the battle of survival started and the world is on stand still. New words are being added to everyone's vocabulary even the toddlers learn of it too quick. Far and wide, the world started fighting with a pandemic. Alas! Thousands are positive as Covid-19 looms. Words such as quarantine, isolation, lockdown, social distancing, physical distancing, nose masks, hand sanitizer and many more become frequently used. Everyone is scared for his/her life, nothing else matters; not our plans for the year, not the wedding we wish to storm, just our precious life. It...

SUSPENSION OF MAGU; NEEDS TO RE-INVESTIGATE GANDUJE'S BRIBE

SUSPENSION OF MAGU; NEEDS TO RE-INVESTIGATE GANDUJE'S BRIBE It is often said that in an unjust society, silence is a crime and all onlookers are cowards. The concept of probing as well as invitation for questioning are serving the same linguistics purposes. The only difference in the two terms is its politeness.  On Monday, 6th of July, 2020, as read on news outlet, the arrest of the former acting chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu. It is no longer a news, the allegations levied against the former EFCC boss which include: leakage of investigation reports (which is not clear to the populace who it was being leaked to), discrepancies in the reconciliation records of the EFCC and the Federal Ministry of Finance on recovered funds, rebooting of recovered loots, failure in providing evidences against some suspects (maybe Ganduje is inclusive) and/or in particular, Diezani Madueke, disregard for rule of law, allege corruption of #1trillion among others.  Having reviewed the accumulated ...

PLAYBOYS AND LUST

Image
Playboys and Lust - Abolarinwa Tayelolu  So i wont blame the play boys, they were once in love and with their heartfelt newest desires, their love, care and everything they wished to offer were splittered with thoughtless swords...i wonder what they had gone through, faking every moves, every motives of theirs, just to ensure that they upbeat how much they have suffered in regret after losing the real person that they loved..some of them chose the railing games, some of them go dirty just to impress and flow away their pains whilst some of them remained ever the same sensing the little regrets that they could not saunter, it was never their fault that they never right their wrongs,so they never bothered to love again...love is significantly correlative to pain..most times the loyalists suffer and will never explain why it failed... As a result of their first heartbreak, the tendency and push which they had for love are permanently suspended for many more years to come. I have to be caref...

Re: Compliments and Criticism

Re: Compliments and Criticisms  A while ago I wrote an article about compliments and criticism. I tried to highlight the pros and cons of these two important phenomenon and how we could get our ways around it. After going through the article several times and digesting the content and comments that followed suit, I came across a couple of conclusions. First, not everyone wants to be criticised. Some people are perfectionists and they believe that whatever they do is the best and as such never pay attention to views, opinions or suggestions of others. This is quite erroneous because no one is an island of knowledge. You could think you've created the best masterpiece but someone who might not be so vast in your field could still easily point out areas that you could work on. This is what education actually means; being ready to learn, unlearn and re-learn. This is very possible only if you give thoughts and considerations to people's criticism (opinions, views, point of views) a...

The Bold Type : A Personal Review

Image
The Bold Type: Personal Review Movie lovers are very selective people. You could either choose to fall in love with sci-fi, romance, comedy, thrillers /action or sociopolitical-based movies. I'm quite an all-rounder when it comes to movies. I believe that every category of movie is distinct and as such has something different to offer viewers (that's if the viewer wants to gain something from it though) I started seeing the series 'The Bold Type' few years back (3 years ago). Oftentimes than not, you see movies or series based on reviews of others or popularity but that wasn't the case with this particular series. No one told me about it, I just stumbled upon it on a very boring day I was looking for something to keep me busy. The title *The Bold Type* was quite enticing. So I decided to check it out: that has been one of the best decisions I've ever made in my entire life. The particular series centres around ladies generally. It has a very strong feminism voi...

WHO ARE WE?

Image
WHO ARE WE? I ask myself this question several times, not because I do not know that we are humans but mostly because in the true definitions of being human and humane, most people are not humans. Who are we? – I think ‘plastic people’ is the best term I can come up with. As a specie, humans over time have developed certain behavioral traits that makes you wonder if truly, there is any trace of humanism left in us. We have decided to be ‘pseudo’ rather than be true to ourselves and our beings. The psychological state of humans is one of the most important aspects of human existence. Our state of mind is as sacrosanct as the pumping of blood in our hearts or the effective operation of our brains. From observation, I have discovered that humans (Africans in this context) rarely talk about their mental health. It is a topic that is widely believed to belong to those at mental facilities (asylums and rehabilitation homes). We would rather ‘act tough’ than be sincere about our...
